South Korean President Moon Jae-in Forces Appointment of Cho Kuk

on September 9, 2019, President Moon Jae-in pushed through his appointment of Cho Kuk as the Minister of Justice. Cho Kuk was unacceptable to the general public due to various suspicions. [See here for further details.] Despite this, [the forcing through of the appointment] can be seen as [Moon’s] declaration that he will stick with Cho Kuk until the end. Some have expressed hopelessness today that rule of law in the Republic of Korea has collapsed.
