During the Korean War, Mao Zedong joined hands with North Korea’s Kim Il-sung to dispatch the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) People’s Volunteer Army (2.4 million personnel) to the Korean peninsula. Not only did they almost communize the Republic of Korea, but most of the 180,000 Korean and UN soldiers who died were killed fighting the Chinese army.
