There is a petition on the Blue House Petition Website appealing for impeaching President Moon Jae-in.  It was posted on April 30, 2019 and it collects support until May 30, 2019.

As of May 28, 2019, there were 243,450 agreeing with the Blue House petition to impeach President Moon Jae-in.  The petition ends on May 30, 2019.

The petition is as follows:

Hello.

I was one of those who cried for reform at Park’s impeachment rally with candle light.

I plead with you, national assembly representatives—please introduce a Motion to Impeach President Moon Jae-in.

1.  Although President Moon Jae-in is the Commander-in-Chief of the South Korean military, he condones and ignores North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons, is making South Korean citizens potential hostages of North Korea’s nuclear weapons, and is weakening our military readiness, although North Korea has not denuclearized.  These actions are against common sense.  This is the first reason for Moon’s impeachment.

2.  Although President Moon Jae-in has been bragging about his being a human rights lawyer, he does not say anything about unconstitutional killing, incarceration, forced labor, and torture that occur under the dictatorial regime of North Korea.  Koreans in North Korea are undeniably citizens of the Republic of Korea, according to our constitution.  However, President Moon Jae-in has never publicized it and tries his best to not displease the North Korean regime. This is the second reason for President Moon Jae-in’s impeachment.

3.  Numerous countries in the world are calling for strengthening sanctions against North Korea and meticulously monitoring North Korea’s illegal transshipments of oil and coal.  However, what did President Moon Jae-in do last year?  Didn’t he smuggle North Korea’s coal into South Korea and operate coal power plants, and then (when caught) say it was merely the mistake of individuals, not a problem on a national level?  In addition, the world is participating in implementing sanctions against North Korea, but South Korea is taking actions against the sanctions.  This is the third reason for President Moon Jae-in’s impeachment.

4.  President Moon Jae-in has been condoning the illegal manipulation of public opinion committed by Druking and Kim Kyoung-soo, the governor of South Gyeongsang Province.  In particular, Druking already self-confessed that he had been acting illegally before the presidential election.  Because of Druking’s manipulation of public opinion, we lost a competent candidate, Ban Ki-moon.  One can plainly see the activities of manipulating public opinion in online cafes on Daum and Naver; President Moon Jae-in and the current South Korea government are condoning these activities.  Condoning crimes is as if they are participating in those crimes. This is the fourth reason for President Moon Jae-in’s impeachment.

5.  President Moon Jae-in had been arguing for the dissolution of National Intelligence Service (NIS) even before the presidential election.  What is NIS’ mission?  Isn’t it monitoring the agents and spies of our main enemy North Korea operating in South Korea?  However, President Moon Jae-in eliminated NIS’s crucial domestic [agents/spy watching] functions, reducing the domestic intelligence collection capability to near zero.  Although many accidents that are suspected to be North Korea’s agents’ actions (including Korea Telecom Ahyeon branch fire, Baekseok district hot water pipe rupture, KTX Gangreung line derailment, etc.) occurred, the cases were whitewashed.  Although NIS must arrest North Korean spies and agents and punish them, President Moon Jae-in is creating an environment in South Korea, where North Korean agents are having a field day. This is the fifth reason for President Moon Jae-in’s impeachment.

The Republic of Korea’s sovereignty rests with its citizens. The duty of the president is not to rule over the people, but to represent the people.

Since the president represents the people, we see no problem in introducing a Motion to Impeach the president, who is taking actions against the will of the people.

Thus, we recommend rapid impeachment of President Moon Jae-in.
